Request for Proposals

6th Biennial
Fire Service Women's
Leadership Training Seminar

March 25-28, 2004
Wyndham Miami Beach Resort -- Miami, Florida

We are inviting proposals for workshops to be presented at WFS' sixth Leadership Training Seminar. If you are interested in being part of the faculty for this event, please submit a proposal that includes the following information:

?-- Subject and title of the workshop, and a comprehensive description of its content;
?-- Explanation of the type of workshop (i.e., lecture, facilitated group discussion, interactive/practical);
?-- Documentation of your credentials for presenting the workshop
?-- Length of workshop session (see options below);
?-- Description of special equipment or facilities required;
?-- Maximum number of attendees per session, if limited.

Please do not simply send us a printout (or e-mailed computer file) of a PowerPoint presentation. We would much prefer a shorter proposal that, in your own words, describes your presentation and tells us why it would be a valuable addition to our program.

For our 2004 seminar, we are looking specifically for high-quality workshops and experienced faculty who will present concrete, usable information and training to women who are in, or seeking promotion to, line officer, administrative and management positions in the structural or wildland fire service. Workshops must fit into either a 2-hour or 3-1/2 hour format. Faculty members will be expected to present their workshop twice.

Please note that in contrast to our international conferences, where the program contains dozens of workshops, only a few faculty members and workshops will be chosen for our LTS program. Therefore, the quality and comprehensiveness of your proposal are very important. If you have taught the workshop before, you may submit a videotape of the session or names and contact information of references who have taken the workshop as part of your credentials.

WFS will cover faculty travel and lodging expenses, as well as a small honorarium. Faculty members will also receive a complimentary registration to the seminar.

To receive full consideration, all workshop proposals should be received no later than October 15, 2003. The WFS Board of Trustees will review the proposals at its fall meeting in early November, and will select the faculty by December 1. Proposals may be e-mailed to , faxed to 608/233-4879, or mailed to:
