11th International Conference
of Fire Service Women

What is a networking session?

Networking sessions are opportunities for conference attendees from specific backgrounds to get together and discuss issues of concern to them, as well as to get to know each other and form connections with their peers in other fire agencies and other parts of the country.

The discussion is facilitated by a faculty member, but is unstructured and can go in any direction the participants desire. In the past, some groups have taken notes on their concerns and forwarded them as proposals and requests to the WFS Board of Trustees, while others have chosen to use the sessions just as a chance to talk with others who share their experiences.

Please note that a networking session is not designed to be an educational opportunity for people of other backgrounds: other workshops are available for this purpose. We ask that you respect and support the focused nature of the networking sessions by attending only those that pertain to you, and not seek to be a spectator at others.

We have scheduled the following networking sessions during the conference:

Latina women firefighters Saturday, 8 a.m.
   African-American women firefighters Friday, 3:30 p.m.
Wildland women firefighters Friday, 1 p.m.
   Lesbian/bisexual/transgendered women firefighters Saturday, 10 a.m.
   Christian firefighters Sunday, 8:30 a.m.

If you would like to facilitate a session that is not on this list, please contact us and we will do our best to make space available.
