Outstanding Career Opportunity for Fire Executives -- Located in northern San Diego County, the City of Vista (pop. 85,700) is seeking an outstanding fire professional (due to a pending retirement) to provide vision and leadership to a staff of 75 (4 stations) with responsibility for a budget of $7.4 million. Candidates must have a proven record of success in the fire service and be recognized as a progressive and innovative leader able to provide contemporary management in a progressive municipal organization. Requires broad knowledge of fire science, fire administration, emergency medical services and labor relations. The Fire Chief will also be responsible for implementation and updating of the Fire Master Plan. A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree and Chief Officer certification are highly desirable with five years of management-level experience.
