My name is Patty Frey and I am the Personnel Chief for Glendale Fire Department. Thank you for your interest in Glendale Fire Department. If you have not done so already, you can visit our City Website at www.glendaleaz.com. Go to the fire department page. We are a medium size department (215 firefighters) on the west border of Phoenix. We currently have 9 stations. All of our engine companies have 2 paramedics and 2 EMT's. We have 2 ladder companies (BLS), a Hazardous Materials Team and a Technical Rescue Team. We run mutual/automatic aid with all the surrounding cities. We currently have 17 women on the department (2 battalion chiefs, 2 captains, the rest are either engineers or firefighters). We are finishing up our hiring process for this budget year and are hoping to be able to test again next Spring, this depends on the budget. Glendale is now home to the Cardinal Stadium, the Arena (where the NHL Coyotes play) and Cabellas. We anticipate being very busy in the future with, what we call, mega events. If you would like to know more about our department, you may contact me at my office, (623) 930-3422.
