I work in a mid size city (500+ career FF's.). The company that I am assigned to has NO dividers. The crew is very respectful toward me but it took a while to get used to the sleeping arrangements after 3.5 years working in a staff position. (My first 6 years were as a line FF, followed by 3.5 year stint in staff and now happily back to the line division.)
I am beginning to float around our city working as a Lieutenant (this is based on recent exam results.) Here's my delimma: while I am used to the guys I work, I am finding it very difficult handling the bunkroom situation every time I float to a different firehouse.
Should I stick my neck out and ask that all of the firehouses be provided with dividers? Clearly, even some of the male FF's enjoy a sense of privacy since I know of at least two firehouses that have some used office type dividers.
The fact that I will be a line division Lieutenant is new territory for our department. There is currently only one female officer on our dept. and she has been in staff positions for almost her entire career.

I just read my post and it seems confusing...so here are some clarifications:
When I said NO dividers, I am referring to the open bunkroom arrangement in the majority of our 16 firehouses.
Further down I meant to say ..."the guys I work with."

Go read "sleeping quarters" further down on the message board.
That should give you more than enough food for thought.
Good luck
