A couple of years ago our dept. went to the Morning Pride Ben 2 helmets. I think because they look good. Some of our people have had some problems with them but 2 of our women, one being myself, have suffered dibilitating neck injuries from the weight of them. They are much heavier than our old helmets, I feel like a bobble head. They also have a pretty metal eagle on the top, which at least one of our male firefighters has gotten caught on some wiring in a fire. He has since removed the eagle.

Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with this helmet?

Our department just went to those same helmets and I'm not sure I've heard anything good about them. I kept my old helmet and refuse to wear the Morning Pride one. It is ridiculously heavy and that eagle is so dangerous. Every time we do escape drills, the eagle gets caught in the wires. Our department bought them because they "looked good", not because of the safety they provide. The people that actually have to wear them don't really get a say in what we want.

Thanks for your response. I also have retired my bobble head helmet & gone back to my old one.
