Just thought it should be posted that Captain Brenda Berkman has retired from the FDNY. She has been and will continue to be an inspiration to me and I would guess just about every other female firefighter that has come and will come.

"In the history of the [NY] Fire Department, there was never a female firefighter until after Berkman.." is an amazing quote to be said about Captain Berkman by Firehouse.com.

I recently saw a movie about Brenda Berkman's struggle to make it in FDNY, and it was an inspiration. It also made me think about how lucky many of us have it now because of her strength and perserverance.
