Just wondering. I saw in another post, $5000 for school. I am getting ready to retire and went thru fire school 23 years ago. It cost $25.00.
Plus the book. So what did you pay ??? It was called "300 hours" and worked out to like 280 plus first responder.

I don't know about some academies here...

I just know that getting your Assocate's in Fire Science, with an academy inlcuded in there somewhere runs you about $4-5K, and takes around 2 years.

I am not clear from your email but I assume that you intend on goinf to a career fire department?
Some people start at a Volunteer department, some departments will pay you to go to training and pay for the training. Of course they want to get thier money out of you, the turnover rate in volunteer is around 5 years. Depending on the run volume though you may get alot of experience that way. You can then take the FF1, FF2, Officer 1, 2 and 3 as well as your MFR OR EMT to a college and get what they call "life credits". There are quite a few accredited colleges that will do this.
Of course this is just an alternate route. This is also suggested for those who are not real sure if they will even like this career.
I am currently enrolled in two different colleges. Bachelors in Fire Science admin and Masters in Philosophy. (but I did have credit at my local college I transferred from as well)
This will save you a bundle.
Hope this was helpful.
email me if you want information on specific colleges.
