I am a full-time firefighter on a fairly young dept. This evening we voted against the contract proposal that was given to us (we are bargaining for our 2nd contract). The biggest problem that our membership had was losing seniority after two week of unpaid time off (this is what is in our current contract). We all know that an injury, on or off the job (or a pregnancy for that matter) can put you out alot longer that 2 weeks. What are other departments polocies on this. We are a small combination township department with only, 30 full-time personnel. Note: our DPW and PD do not lose seniority. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
