It just gets better with Becky...
Saturday my dept took park in a parade. I opted out b/c Becky was attending and have just had enough of the drama surrounding her. Turns out I was smart to stay away or I may have blown my stack...
Becky wanted to ride the rescue to the parade but was told no b/c they need interior FF's on the truck. To this she literally cried and called the OIC a "fat stupid f**k". Those present say that the OIC was not rude or snotty in telling ehr this, just matter of fact. OIC is someone known for being a bit of a PITA in our dept. He's a stickler for detail and what's right and wrong, which gets on people's nerves(even mine at times). All this aside, she had no right to speak to him as she did.
The chiefs office "spoke to her" about her behavior but did not take any disciplinary action. Tonight I went by and she was riding one of the capts motorcycles with him. Did I mention they made her a truck SGT within her first 3 weeks of being in the dept? Well, they did and many fo the guys (outisde of the "in group" of course) are getting POed rather quickly. I can see the situation is about to errupt and am trying to stay low, btu it has occured ot me that I should go social for awhile and let things fall where they may. I really HATE the thought of not staying up on my skills and not being able to go on calls; but, I'm concerned about being on the outside of the in because my feelings are very well known, and this situation could hurt me wiht the career depts surrounding the VFD.
It's no tgetitng any better and this child is determined to do as she pleases...not worth sticking my neck out b/c she will only disregard it. I'm losing sleep again...

Take the high road. Stay involved with training and operations, but try not to get sucked into the drama. Keep asking yourself, what can I possibly gain by jumping in the fray? I bet you can't think of anything.
