I was reading about Camp Blaze and want to start one in Philadelphia. I want to know if anyone has information on how to get started and who to contact. I did email Camp Blaze but was wondering if anyone else has started one in their area and how they did it. I think it a great way for young adults to focus on something positive especially kids coming from lower income families or broken homes. Any kind of info is greatly appreciated

some women in New York state have been talking about starting a camp like Camp Blaze. It was discussed at last year's state women firefighter's conference. You should come. Out-of-staters are very welcome. I think there's a link on this web site about this year's event. It's in September. Some good networking and hands-on training. I noticed your screen name. Do you speak Spanish? I've been taking college level courses hoping it will increase my opportunities within my department.

Thanks for the info. I did see that conference is coming up in Sept. and am trying to get into it. I'm excited about it. Yes, I do speak spanish it is definitely a plus.

It's a Fire camp for young women who want to be FF. It's a week training of Teamwork, repelling, search and rescue plus SCBA. But not sure if they do live burns. I think it's great. WWW.CampBlaze.com. Sponsored by WFS.
