I'm a medic for a lrg. FD that has started cross training about 5 yrs ago. I have tried the class in the past with not good results ( mainily aimed at me personnally). Anyway this time they are requiring the ems people to complete the phys. agil. test before our interview(all new this time). In the past I have had diff with ladders and towers can anyone help me with that. I think I'm just freaking myself out metally. Mostly my ques is how to grasp the dummy for the drag. Last time I use a hose rope but it did not work well. I have ran over in my mind and think I will try to bear hug it or carry like a pt. Thanks for any help you could give me.

Are you dragging the dummy across the ground or can you pick it up with just it's feet dragging? If you can pick it up and get your arms around it and under the arms, then grasp your hands together in front it's not too hard. Remember lift with your legs initially. Then let it lay against your chest as you walk backwards, take small fast steps. If it's not done that way and you completely drag it on the ground. Can you grab it by it's collar? Or a lot of times they already have handles attached to it to pull with. Get a good grip and just keep pulling in a steady motion don't slow down or stop, keep a good momentum. Don't psych yourself out. It has a lot to do with you believing you can do it. Whenever I have a physical test I tell myself "this is only a few minutes of your life, you can do it!" Good Luck, you will do fine.
