Conference Hotel

The conference is being held at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel, 2450 Galleria Parkway, Atlanta GA 30339 (www.renaissancehotels.com). Single and double rooms are $119/night plus 13% tax, for conference attendees. WFS does not make attendees' hotel arrangements. Make your hotel reservations directly with the hotel by calling 888/391-8724 toll-free, or 770/953-4500, and ask for the "Women in the Fire Service Conference" room block. They will ask for one night's advance deposit (checks and major credit cards accepted) to secure the reservation. This deposit is refundable if the reservation is cancelled at least 72 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date.

The special conference rates are available for three days before and three days after the conference. Book your room as soon as possible in order to guarantee this rate.

Note: If you are a "no-show" on the first night of your reservation, your entire reservation will be cancelled and you will be billed for the first night's room and tax. It is important that you call the hotel if travel delays or a change in plans result in your not arriving at the hotel as scheduled.

Important addition: As of February 7, the Renaissance Waverly had no more rooms available for the night of Tuesday, March 13. If this continues to be the case (cancellations could always happen), we recommend you reserve Tuesday night at our overflow hotel, the Crown Plaza Hotel - Powers Ferry, which is holding a block of rooms for us at $129/night. The hotel is about a mile away from the conference site, and runs a free shuttle to the Waverly. Call them at 770/955-1700.

We have also been advised that some people who asked for rooms starting on Tuesday have been told (by the hotel reservations people) there were no rooms available at the Waverly for any night of the conference. This is not true! Ask them specifically about Wednesday through Sunday nights, and if they still say there is no room, call us at 608/233-4768 and we will happily get involved.

Conference Airline

Delta Air Lines is offering special meeting fares for all conference attendees who use their Meeting Desk to book their reservations. Call 800/241-6760 to make your reservations, and refer to File Number 170505A.

Airport Shuttle

The Atlanta Fire Department and the Marietta Fire Department are generously providing complimentary transportation from the Atlanta airport to the conference hotel all day on Tuesday, March 13, and Wednesday, March 14. Look for their "gatherers" in the baggage claim area. They will send you over to the airport fire station, from where buses will depart for the Waverly every hour. Our thanks to the AFD and MFD for this support of our conference and its attendees!

The A&M Limousine Corporation provides shuttle services between Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport and the Renaissance Waverly between 6:30 a.m. and 11 p.m. daily. The fare is $20 each way. Advance reservations are recommended: call 770/955-4565, fax 770/916-0816, e-mail Reservations@AandMLimo.com, or visit their web site at www.AandMLimo.com. Group discounts are available for groups of ten or more. A&M's vehicles are located at the airport's ground transportation area at Metro Shuttle Parking Stall #8.

Child Care

Free child care will be available at the conference hotel during all scheduled conference events, including the fire station and Martin Luther King Jr. Historic Site tours. You must register for child care by February 22.
