WFS will present its 5th biennial Leadership Training Seminar March 8-10, 2002, at the Bahia Resort Hotel on Mission Bay in San Diego, California. The program will offer three days of intensive workshops along with many opportunities for networking and mentoring with fire service leaders.

Seminar topics will include:

? ?"Teaching Leadership: Designing Good Officer Development Programs"
? ?"The ABC's of IMS" (all-day incident command simulator training)
? ?"Coaching for Leaders"
? ?"Preparing for the Promotional Process"
? "Wildland Firefighter Safety and Survival"
? ?"The CPAT and Your Fire Department"


We will also offer an additional seminar day on Friday, March 8, featuring political activist and educator Jona Olsson. She will present half-day sessions on "Confronting Racism" and "When I Doubt Myself and Other Women: Confronting Internalized Sexism." Jona's sessions at our 2001 conference in Georgia were highly acclaimed by those who packed the workshop rooms in order to attend. We are honored to have her back on our program, and encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity for some excellent training.(A separate registration fee will be charged for Friday's sessions.)
